Lensmire, CharleenCharleen Lensmire, 80, of Cleveland, died on Monday, October 10, 2016 at Froedtert Hospital after a brief illness. She was born on October 17, 1935 in Elkhart Lake, the daughter of Edwin and Lauretta (Cain) Gross. Charleen attended grade school and high school in Plymouth. She then went on and attended college at Sheboygan County
Teachers College in Sheboygan Falls, the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh and Silver Lake College in Manitowoc, receiving a BS in Elementary and Special Needs. She taught school in Parnell, Howards Grove, and The Lightfoot Schools for a total of 31 years. She also worked at the Plymouth Theaters as a ticket cashier, and the Plymouth Telephone Company as a telephone operator. On August 16, 1958 she was united in marriage to Matthew A. Lensmire Jr. at St. John the Baptist Church in Plymouth. They lived in Plymouth, Sheboygan Falls, and Cleveland. Charleen was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Newton where she was a liturgical reader and helper for funerals. Charleen was also a reader for the Children's Reading Program at the JMKAC. She enjoyed traveling in Europe and the United States, working in her flower gardens and yard, camping, moped riding, sewing, and playing piano. She also enjoyed her grandchildren and attending the many activities they participated in. Taking walks and snowshoeing with her dog Cindy accompanying her, was a favorite pass time, she also enjoyed baking many chocolate chip cookies for her grandchildren and neighbors to enjoy. Charleen is survived by her son Thomas (Jane) Lensmire of rural Cleveland, her daughter Carol (Dave Stevens) Satran of Chassell, MI, by her ten grandchildren; Matthew (Rachel), Luke, Joanna, Samuel (Emily), and Zachary Lensmire, and Hannah, Lee, Terrence, Nicolet and Mariah Satran. She is also survived by a sister Petie (Fred) Ertel of Sheboygan, three brothers-in-law; Roger (Marlene) Lensmire , Dale (Rosemary) Lensmire , Timothy Lensmire all of Plymouth, by two sisters-in-law, June Galloway of Plymouth and Judith (Jack) Slattery of Campbellsport, by her special golden lab Cindy, and by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a brother, two sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law, and her parents-in-law. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, October 13, 2016 at 7:00 PM at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 8100 Brunner Rd., Newton, with Fr. Tom Long officiating. Burial will take place on Friday, October 14, 2016 at 11:00 AM set St. Michael's Cemetery in Parnell-Cascade. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Thursday, October 13, 2016 from 3:00 PM until the time of service at the CHURCH.In lieu of flowers a memorial fund will be established in Charleen's name.Please visit our website to sign the guestbook
