Steinberg, Charlene J.Charlene June Steinberg, 91, of Sheboygan WI was called to eternal life onDecember 19, 2016. Charlene (Charlie) was born on March 24th, 1925 to Robert and Julia (Marousek) Steinberg in Prairie Du Chien WI. She graduated from Prairie Du Chien High School in 1942 and attended the UW Madison and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry in 1947 and a Masters degree in Chemistry in 1948.Charlene started her teaching career in Green Bay at the UW Center in 1948.She came to Sheboygan in 1951 and taught Chemistry at UW-Sheboygan until her retirement in 1987. She had many professional and honorary affiliations including the American Chemical Society, American Association of Women, Wisconsin Academy of Arts, Letters and Science. She was very involved at UW-Sheboygan and coached tennis and golf. She touched and enriched many lives of students while teaching at UW-Sheboygan over 37 years.Charlene loved to travel around the world and took several trips to Russia and many parts of Europe. Charlene was very good Bridge player and was still playing bridge late into her 80's.She enjoyed playing Mah Jong. She loved to spend time at her cottage on horseshoe lake in Manitowoc County.Charlene was a proud and enthusiastic Chicago Bears fan. She was always eager to tell everyone she was a Bears fan. She cheered especially hard when they were playing the Packers. She was also a big fan of tenor Luciano Pavarotti and attended many of his performances. Charlene was preceded in death by her father Robert Steinberg, mother Julia Steinberg, grandparents and other relatives.Charlene was a member of First United Lutheran Church in Sheboygan. Per Charlene's wish no funeral service will be held. She will be cremated and her remains interned at the Lutheran Cemetery in Sheboygan. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to UW Sheboygan Foundation, 1 University Dr. Sheboygan 53081 in Charlene's name.A heartfelt thank you extended to the great caregivers at the Golden Living Nursing home in Sheboygan for the wonderful care she was given over the final years of her life.
