COLLINS, Charles E. Age 80, of Dayton, OH, departed this life on Sunday, October 16, 2016, surrounded by family. He was born on July 21, 1936 in Lothair, KY to Ana and Jesse Collins. He graduated from Liberty High in Hazard, KY. Charles retired from 20 years' service to the United States Air Force as a Technical Sargent (E6) and continued his career as an Electrical Contract Programmer for the United States Government. Charles was a man of spiritual faith and gave his life to Christ at a young age. He was a longtime member of the Crestview Baptist church, and in recent years, the St. Timothy Baptist Church. At both churches, he served as Chairman of the Deacon Board and taught Sunday School. An active volunteer in the community, Charles was an inspiration to and a positive impact on every life he touched. He was preceded in death by (4) brothers: Frank Collins, Clarence Collins, and Donald Andrew Collins, and Robert Collins, and a sister, Minnie Taylor. He is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Mary Collins; his children, David Wayne Collins (Yvette), Helen Elizabeth Collins Hines, and Charles Edward Collins II (Pam). He leaves behind (4) siblings: Julia Caldwell (Willie), Katherine Alston, James Collins, and Jess Collins (Yvonne); (11) grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., MONDAY, October 24, 2016 at THOMAS FUNERAL HOME, 4520 Salem Ave., with Reverend John Williams, officiating.
