Charles Edmond "Chuck" Schauer, Jr.San AngeloCharles (Edmond, Chuck), (Bud) Schauer Jr., passed away on Thursday, Nov. 9, 2017 in a local hospital surrounded by his loving family.Chuck was born on August 28, 1920 at Shannon Hospital in San Angelo, Texas to Charles E. Schauer Sr. and Anna Montgmery Schauer of Ozona, Texas. Chuck was the third of five children. He married Marie M. LaBrie on Aug. 4, 1955 in Denver, Colorado.Chuck proudly served as a Combat Engineer, and was an expert marksman for 2 1/2 years in the United States Army, serving in
WWII and in the European Theatre, Germany. He also had two younger brothers serving in the U.S. Army as well. He built pontoon bridges over several rivers, including the Rhine River. Chuck worked for 40 years with the PSCO in Denver, Colorado as an engineer on gas lines. He retired in 1992. Chuck had a great passion for music and was an extremely talented musician. He played Big Band Music for 40 years in his own "Chuck Schauer Orchestra." Most of all, Chuck was a loving brother, husband, father and grandfather who devoted his life to his family. His life and his legacy of love will remain in our hearts forever!Chuck was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Charley Ellen Ward and Laurene Taylor; and two brothers, Blake and Nelson Schauer.He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marie; his six children, Mary Anne, Charles III, Brian, Doug, Ed, and Kristina; along with 12 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren.Memorial service is at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, 2017 at Harper Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Walter Hammonds officiating.
