Charles Edward Burns1930-2017Charles Edward Burns, 86, passed away on Saturday, June 3, 2017 with family at his side. He was born on November 30, 1930 to Clarence and Irene Burns in Mobile, AL.He was preceded in death by his Parents; Sister, Mary and Brother-in- law, Russell Scott and his Brother, John Mack.He leaves behind his wife of 56 years, Lillie A. Hall Burns and 2 children; Eric and Beverly.Charles graduated from Auburn University, class of 1952 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a major in Accounting. He was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Air Force Reserve, attached to the 1030th Auditor General Squadron, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. He was Business Manager in Pensacola for Bob Salter Chevrolet for over 22 years, before moving to Mitchell Motors for 9 years.Charles's hobbies included landscaping and wood working, making Wall, Mantel and Grandfather clocks with his son Eric.He was a volunteer at Baptist Hospital for over 20 years. He was heavily involved in First Baptist Church for over 45 years and served our Lord and Savior in various capacities including Sunday school teacher, the clerk of the Deacons for 25 years, and clerk of the church and was a deacon emeritus. He also volunteered for many years in the Samaritan Hands Ministry at FBC. His unwavering dedication and commitment to our Lord, his family and everyone he came in contact with will never be forgotten. He loved his church, his family and Auburn University.Graveside services will be held at Mobile Memorial Gardens, Mobile, AL at 10:30am Wednesday, June 7, 2017. Visitation will then be held at 3:00pm with Memorial Services beginning at 4:00pm in Pleitz Chapel at First Baptist Church, Pensacola, with Dr. Barry Howard officiating.Charles will be missed on this earth, but we rejoice in his life and celebrate his kind, gentle, selfless nature he shared with everyone he came in contact with.
