He was a dedicated, engaging teacher and he had a formative impact on the lives of countless students. From his days as a high school athlete to his lifelong support of the Washington Redskins, sports were always an important part of his life. He coached high school football for 23 years, and then at Lebanon Valley College for 10 years. He coached high school basketball for 4 years, and later at Johnson State College for 4 years. "Uncle Chas" quickly became one of the camp's favorite counselors.Charles was a family man to the core. His greatest joy came from spending time with and following the accomplishments of his family. He especially enjoyed outdoor activities like fishing, golfing, going to the beach and camping. At family gatherings he could always be found playing with the children and even known to squeeze in the kiddie pool for a swim with the grandkids. One of his greatest legacies is the spectacular example he set for us of how to be a husband, a father, a grandfather, an uncle, a friend, a mentor, a neighbor and a citizen. In lieu of flowers please send donations to Lamoille Home Health & Hospice, 54 Farr Avenue, Morrisville, VT 05661 or the United Church of Johnson, PO Box 703, Johnson, VT 05656.A family memorial gathering will be scheduled at a later date.Faith Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
