After quietly and courageously fighting several ailments over the years, it is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we remember Charles Edward Wilson, 70, of Anaheim, California, who passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, April 29, 2020.
Charles was born to Charles and Ann King on October 4, 1949 in Chicago, Illinois. At the age of 7, Charles was adopted by the Wilson family.
Charles graduated from Wendell Phillips Academy High School and received his degree from Moody Bible Institute. He ultimately married Kathleen Lawson on March 29, 1980. In 1984, they decided to leave Chicago and moved their family to Long Beach, CA.
At the age of 22, Charles answered his calling and gave his life to Jesus Christ. He devoted himself and made it his life’s work to do the Lord’s work. In doing so, Charles worked his entire life as an Evangelist. You could regularly find him praying, on a daily basis, with locals in many California neighborhoods, laying hands on the sick and those who were shut in. He really loved working at TBN and Melody Land where he spent many years as a volunteer on the prayer lines. As most who knew him would attest, you couldn’t finish a conversation with him without his leading you to accept or reaffirm Jesus Christ as your personal savior.
Charles loved sports. He especially loved basketball, often watching the Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Lakers with his kids. The Bulls were his favorite, even after moving to Laker country. He was a huge Michael Jordan fan!
Charles is survived by 5 children: Andre Dameron (Atoya Dameron); Deidra Mitchell (Rashid Mitchell); Ann Wilson Wainwright (Kahama Wainwright EL); Elita Wilson; and Charles Wilson (Nishia Wilson). He also is survived by his beloved pride and joy, his 12 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Mark and Belinda Scarborough and Steve Hunt for all of their help during Charles's final days. We will remain forever grateful.
