Charles Franklin SlaytonAlamo, TNFuneral services for Mr. Charles Franklin Slayton, age 88, will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2017, at 10:00 AM at Providence Baptist Church with Randy Kellough and Luke Ashley officiating. Interment will follow in the Providence Church Cemetery.He passed away on July 26, 2017, at the Alamo Nursing Home and Rehab Center.Charles was born on April 16, 1929, to the late Elma Doyle Slayton and Georgia Lou Harber Slayton in Crockett Mills, Tennessee. Some of his proudest accomplishments were serving on the Highway Patrol for ten years, Lawman Squad (created by Governor Frank Clement) as an elite group of troopers, Mason for fifty years, member of Providence Baptist Church, owner of Crockett Mills Gin with his brother Jimmy and also began farming; his happiest days were working and raising horses and mules.He was preceded in death by his brother, Jimmy Slayton.Survivors include his loving wife, Mackie Vaughn Slayton; daughters, Carol Green (Tommy), Sherry Riggsbee (Danny), Fran Richardson, and Pat Riley; sister, Patsy King (Curtis); grandchildren, John Green, Mary Carol Perry (Will), Matt Riggsbee (Jodie), Danielle Hazlewood (Dwane), Cody Spitzer, Caleb Spitzer (Sally), Katie Argo Ashley (Luke), J.R. Riley; great-grandchildren, J.T. Green, Jenna Green, Cadie Perry, Kate Riggsbee, Mattison Riggsbee, Macy Hazlewood, Marissa Hazlewood, Raegan Spitzer, Logan Spitzer, Lauren Spitzer, Slayt Spitzer, Sawyer Spitzer, and Ryall Ashley and a host of nieces and nephews.Visitation will be held on Friday, July 28, 2017, from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Ronk Funeral Home.Pallbearers for the service will be John Green, Matt Riggsbee, Cody Spitzer, Caleb Spitzer, J.R. Riley, J.T. Green, Dwane Hazlewood, Will Perry, and Luke Ashley.Honorary pallbearers are Larry Dale Hunt, Bobby Mathis, Jody Byrd, Ernest Bushart, and Larry Joe Prescott.
