Charles Frederick "Fred" Martinsen Fred Martinsen, age 92, peacefully passed away at his home in Lacey on August 10, 2017. He was born on August 4, 1925 in Bellingham, WA to Clarence (Rusty) Edward & Alice Eleanor (Anderson) Martinsen. Graduate of Blaine High School 1943, WWII Veteran (Purple Heart and Bronze Star recipient), WSU and U of I graduate. Worked for Washington Department of Game, 1949 1982 as a Wildlife Biologist and Program Manager. Duty stations included Okanogan, Aberdeen, Walla Walla, Vancouver and Olympia. Member of The Wildlife Society, N.R.A., National Wild Turkey Federation. Was parishioner of Sacred Heart church in Lacey. Actively worked with the BSA, having served as Assistant & Scout Master of Troop 323 in Vancouver and Troop 208 in Lacey. Received the Silver Beaver Award & the District Award of Merit. Enjoyed spending time with family, gardening, camping, hunting, fishing and helping young people develop into responsible adults. Fred was preceded in death by his sister Dolores and son Bill. He is survived by his wife Jeanne, sister Barbara, daughter Sue, sons Tom, John, Tim, 11 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren. Funeral mass to be held Wednesday 8/23 9 am at Sacred Heart in Lacey. Donations to or Pacific Harbors Council, BSA.
