SMITHFIELD, Utah - Charles Hancey Low, 84, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2007, at his home in Smithfield. Charles was born on May 30, 1923, in Smithfield to William Lorin and Vilate Hancey Low. He met and married Myrna K. Carter on Nov. 4,1948. He grew up in Smithfield attending schools and graduated from North Cache High in 1941. He played basketball serving as captain during his senior year. After graduation he enlisted and served in the Air Force during World War II. Following his military service he returned home and farmed. He began a career with the Postal Service in 1965 and continued farming and raising beef cattle up until his retirement in 1987. Charles had many interests, his first and foremost was Myrna, his loving companion of almost 59 years. They enjoyed anytime they could go hear a good band play and dance together. They have traveled to many places around the world and in the United States. They shared many great times in their fifth wheel on fishing trips and various places. Charles loved the outdoors and loved hunting and fishing with his sons and brothers. After retirement he loved planting, working, in and sharing the many vegetables he and Myrna grew in their garden. Having been a lifelong member of the LDS Church, he was a high priest and a member of the Smithfield 10th Ward at the time of his death. He is survived by his wife Myrna; his children Lex (Ann) Low, Lorraine (Craig) Earl, Scott (Darla) Low, Joyce (David) Scott; grandchildren, Marianne (Kurt) Farnsworth, Kirk (Rebecca) Earl, Chad (Melissa) Low, Kevin (Michelle) Low, Heather Low, Jessica (Collin) Armstrong, Angela (Danny) Harper, Travis and Tyler Low; great-grandchildren, Emily, Natalie, Todd, Alex Farnsworth, Audrie Earl, Hannah and Haylie Low. He is also survived by two brothers Budd Low, and Ned (Diane) Low. He was proceeded in death by his parents; sisters Ellen Low and Afton Woodruff; sister-in-law Mada Low; and grandson Jared Scott. In lieu of flowers please send memorials to Primary Children's hospital in memory of Charles' grandson Jared Scott. Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday Sept. 29,2007, in the Smithfield 10th Ward Chapel 345 E. 300 South Smithfield. A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday at the Allen Mortuary of North Logan, 420 E. 1800 North, North Logan, and prior to services at the church from 10 to 11 a.m. Burial will be at the Smithfield City Cemetery.
