Charles JudstraCharles Albert Judstra, age 90, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, died on Wednesday, November 8, 2017, surrounded by his family.Visitation for Charles begin at 3:00 pm at Heritage Funeral Home on Sunday, November 12, 2017 with a memorial service to begin that same day at 4:00 pm.Charles was born on April 5, 1927, in Platte, SD, to Nick and Jenny Judstra. At the age of 14, he dedicated himself to farming with his dad.In 1946, Charles began serving with the 63rd Air Service Corp. in Japan, proudly serving his Country during
WWII. He was discharged in 1947, achieving the rank of Pfc. He was a 41-year continuous member of the American Legion Post 0154 of Montrose, SD.On June 11, 1971, Charles was united in marriage with Lorraine Keller in Salem, SD. Grateful for having shared his life are his loving wife of 47 years, Lorraine; his daughters Colleen (Rick) Wilson of Graham, Washington; Julie (Mike) Collins of Brighton, Colorado; Leslie Warren of Everywhere, USA; and Brad (Christine James) Judstra of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He is also survived by his grandchildren E'Llysa Judstra, Heather Collins, Scott (Landy) Collins, Jordan Judstra, and Sabre Judstra; and his 5 great-grandchildren.Charles hunted and fished with his children, enjoyed watching sports, and was a closet Cubs fan. He and his wife spent many beautiful winters in Arizona. He loved to spoil his family, and his kind eyes and ready smile brightened the days of friends and strangers alike. He was a quiet man who appreciated the beauty around him and was quick to point out a field of deer or the squirrel sneaking into the bird feeder.Charles was preceded in death his parents, Nick and Jenny Judstra, and his sisters, Betty (Ed) Clark and Henrietta (Vic) Deiters.
