LAGRANGE — Charles D. Kilgore, 52, of LaGrange, Indiana, died Saturday, January 24, 2015 at his home after a hard fought battle since 2006. Charles was born on February 22, 1962 in Kendallville, Indiana, to Barbara A. (Bailey) Shew. She survives in Kendallville, Indiana. Living his lifetime in LaGrange, he was a mechanic for the former Nelson Chevrolet in LaGrange for many years. He was a member of Westlakes Investment Club, and the K of P Lodge. Charles was a member of the LaGrange Fire Department for 17 years, was Fireman of the Year twice and served as assistant chief. On May 14, 1994 in LaGrange, Indiana he married Cindy L. Grate. Mrs. Kilgore survives in LaGrange. Also surviving is a brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth J. and Mary Kilgore of LaGrange; a sister-in-law, Cheryl Voelker of Battle Creek, Michigan; a brother-in-law, Timothy Grate of LaGrange; four nieces, Morgen Grate, Karlie Grate, Sierra Grate, and Christine Robbe; and four nephews, Jesse Kilgore, Casey (Katlyn) Kilgore, Isaac Kilgore, and Nelson H. Grate. A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, January 31, 2015 from 12 noon until 4 p.m. at the LaGrange American Legion Post #215, 100 N. Industrial Parkway, LaGrange, Indiana.
