BUTLERCharles L. Sr. Charlie Charles L. Charlie Butler Sr., age 69 of Maumee, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, October, 31, 2016. He was born on November 12, 1946 to Thomas and Myrtle (Woodruff) Butler. Charlie graduated from Northwood High School in 1964. He was employed by Jeep for 29 years, before retiring in 2013. Prior to working at Jeep, he was a journeyman bricklayer. He was very proud to point out all of the buildings, throughout Northwest Ohio, that he had a part in building. Charlie was a Sea Bee and was a
United States Navy Veteran, having served in the
Vietnam War.Beyond being proud of his building accomplishments, his most prized treasures were his wife, his kids, his grandchildren, and his lake. They all knew that they belonged to him because of the overwhelming love and endless time that he shared with them. But, they were not the only ones to feel his love. Charlie had a special gift to make just about anyone that he came in contact with feel like they were a part of his immediate family, usually with a goofy joke or with a squeeze of the hand. He was an honest, hardworking, wonderful, generous, loving man, who had an amazing sense of humor. He is loved, and he will be missed. But, we know he is now happy to be spending as much time as he wants at the Lake.Surviving are his loving wife of 48 years, Marilyn (Fink) Butler; daughter, Kim (Jim) Reno; son, Charles (Carrie) Butler Jr.; his cherished grandchildren, Austin Reno, Mason Butler, Carson Reno, Jenna Butler, Alec Butler; his siblings, Charlene (Bud) Martin, Lila (Charlie Mowery) Schmit, Tom (Cookie) Butler, Dave (Grace) Butler, Pam (Gail) Butler, Chris (John) Mills and Jeff (Debbie) Butler, and his canine buddies, Murphy and Tucker.Charlie's family will receive friends from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at Neville Funeral Home, Southwest Chapel, Holland, Ohio (419-865-8879).
