Charles L. LeCroy1948-2017Charles L. LeCroy, born on October 3, 1948 in Atlanta, GA, to R.W. and Dorothy Jones LeCroy, died unexpectedly on Sunday, May 21, 2017, while visiting family in McDonough, GA.After graduating from Classen High in Oklahoma City, where he grew up, he joined the Navy and was stationed at NAS Pensacola. It was in Pensacola, where he met Nina. They were married in the Aviation Memorial Chapel, NAS Pensacola on June 6, 1969. After a year-long tour in Viet Nam, he was discharged from the Navy and returned to Pensacola where he took a job with the Bell Steel Company as a welder's helper. He attended PJC nights and graduated with an AS in drafting and worked his way up to the engineering office at Bell Steel. After 14 years, he left to help Nina with her father's business (Penny's Hardware and Sporting Goods) for 10 years, then returning to Bell Steel when his father-in-law passed away. He continued there for 14 more years, leaving in 2014 to retire.Family was the most important thing in the world to Charlie. If a stranger stopped him on the street to ask the time, somehow Charlie would manage to mention that he has a son who is a doctor, a daughter who is a nurse, five wonderful grandchildren and by-the-way, his wife is a great cook. He loved to hunt and spent countless hours in the woods with his father-in-law, son and grandsons. It did not matter that he seldom came home with game, he just loved being there. He spent his last hours enjoying himself with his brothers, their wives, their children and grandchildren in GA. He will be greatly missed.Charles was preceded in death by a son, Trever LeCroy (1970-2004), as well as his mother and father.Charles is survived by his wife, Nina Pennington LeCroy; son, Christopher LeCroy MD; daughter, Carrie LeCroy McGhee (Shannon); brothers, Jack LeCroy (Cynthia) of McDonough, GA and Richard LeCroy (Bonnie) of Locust Grove, GA; cousin, Ronnie Bryant (Rose) of Jackson, GA; grandchildren, Tyler, Aaron and Dylan McGhee, Andrew and Maddie LeCroy and his best buddy, Rocky Bazinet (Theresa).A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 am on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at Christ Episcopal Church, with Father Michael Hoffman officiating.
