Charles "Chuck" R. MorrisMay 19, 1925 - January 5, 2015Charles R Morris (Chuck) died at his home on January 5, 2015. He was born on the Mesa in Delores, Colorado on May 19, 1925, delivered at home by his Dad. He was the 4th of 7 children born to John E and Geneva Morris. His family went where the work was during the Depression, moving from Colorado to Kansas and back when Chuck was 7. He grew up on the ranch with his siblings George, Jack, Martha (Jane), Harry, Virginia (Ginger) and John Earl (JE).His parents moved to Rico for work, leaving Chuck to live in town with his Grandma Goodwin where he finished his high school education. She instilled many values during this time and "kept him on the straight and narrow".On his graduation day, he joined the Army Air Force, serving in WWII on many islands in the South Pacific. He was charged with locating lost planes by finding the radio signal and retrieving them back to Base. He was honorably discharged on Feb 5, 1946. Following his sister and her family to Nampa, Idaho, he worked with his brother-in-law, Frosty, at his wrecking yard for 3 years. He did a short stint as a Telegrapher for the railroad which he abhorred but Fanchon thought was a great idea! He gladly left and went to work for Ed Rosenlof's Texaco Station. He then began his long career working as the manager at Nordling Auto Parts where he retired after 35 years. Chuck married the very love of his life, Fanchon Godfrey, on Aug 6, 1949. Married for 65 years, they were the essence of what a marriage should be. They were blessed with four beautiful children, Joyce, Diane, Rebecca and Jon (Jack). Among many other things, Chuck was chauffeur for Fanchon, driving her to see patients in many "far-flung" areas of Idaho no matter the time or weather. They lost Diane at the age of 16 after an accident, on Chuck's birthday. His passions in retirement, besides Fanchon and family, were Bowling, Canyon County Mounted Sherriff's Posse and woodworking in his shop where he built over 80 jewelry boxes for family and friends and filled our houses with beautiful furniture. He was in the Posse for 34 years, riding together for 17 of those with his son, Jack. He bowled in three leagues a week at Nampa Bowl for over 65 years, taking all of his endeavors to heart. An avid hunter and fisherman, he thoroughly enjoyed wandering the Owyhees and other mountain ranges on his horses. He was always amazed by "the country" he was in. Chuck loved telling stories more than anything, ALWAYS telling the punch-line twice. Two laughs are always better than one. He will be missed more than words can explain.He is survived by his wife, Fanchon; his daughters, Joyce (Jim), and Becky (Philip); and son, Jack (Lois). He also has 7 loving grandchildren, Tabitha (Mitch), Carmen (Mike), Jacob, Eric, John, Kristi (Alan), Jordan (Claire); 10 great-children; 4 great great-grandsons; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, all siblings and his daughter Diane. His care is under the direction of Alsip and Persons Funeral Chapel.
