Charles A. Sauer III1938 - 2016Charles A. "Chuck" Sauer III, 78, of Kenosha, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 29, 2016, at United Hospital System-Kenosha Hospital Campus, surrounded by his loving family.A lifelong resident of Kenosha, he was born on Feb. 19, 1938, and was the son of the late Charles A. and Lillian E. (Kraak) Sauer II. He attended Lincoln Elementary, Washington Jr. High, and Kenosha High School.From Sept. 28, 1956, until his honorable discharge on Sept. 25, 1959, he proudly served our country in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was stationed at Twenty Nine Palms, California, attained the rank of Sergeant and received the Good Conduct Medal. On Aug. 28, 1965, in Kenosha, he was united in marriage to Jean M. Vernezze Reeves.For 39 years Charles was employed with MacWhyte Wire Rope Company. He retired on June 13, 1999, from their service department.Charles loved working on his beautiful yard with his wife.He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Jean Sauer; his children, Charles A. (Rachel) Sauer IV, Judith L. (Mark) Uelmen, Jerry A. (Kelly) Reeves, all of Kenosha; his grandchildren, Chandler M. Sauer, Ashton N. Sauer, Kendall B. Sauer, Daniel M. (Beth) Uelmen, Leah J. (Jason) Soderlund, Karen J. Reeves, Sandra L. Reeves, Brittany A. Powell, Christopher A. Reeves, Courtney M. Reeves; his great grandchildren, Samantha A. Uelmen, Alexandra P. Uelmen, and Colton Powell.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, James G. Reeves; his brothers, Richard C. and Merle W. Sauer; and a sister, Lorraine E. Bahr.Funeral Services honoring Charles' life will be held on Friday, Nov, 4, 2016, at 10 a.m. at the Piasecki-Althaus Funeral Home. Entombment with full military honors will follow in Sunset Ridge Memorial Park. A visitation for Charles will be held on Thursday, Nov. 3, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
