YORK Charles W. Wantz, Jr., died on Sunday, May 18, 2014, his 76th birthday. He was the husband of Faye M. (Lunsford) Wantz. They were married for 28 years. Charlie was born on May 18, 1938, in York, son of the late Dorothy (Geiselman) and Charles W. Wantz, Sr. He was a bartender for 25 years at the Lincoln Bar & Grill. He later retired from Schaad Detective Agency. He was a U.S.
Army veteran of the
Vietnam War. He was a member of the
VFW Post 8951 West York and a life member of the Vigilant Social Club. The viewing will be from 5 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at the John W. Keffer Funeral Homes and Crematory, Inc., 2114 W. Market St. The funeral service will begin at 6 p.m. with the Rev. Sue Oelrich officiating. Burial will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 28, 2014, in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. In addition to his wife, Charlie is also survived by two stepsons, Eugene "Nick" Lunsford and Mark Lunsford; five step grandchildren, Nicholas Lunsford, Kristy Lunsford, Zack Lunsford, Darron Lunsford, and Marki Eisenhower; eight step great-grandchildren; and several cousins in Hellam. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Wantz. Memorial contributions may be made to the York County SPCA, 3159 Susquehanna Trail North, York, PA 17406. Charlie and Faye were married on a double decker paddle wheel boat, along with their best friends, Bob and Bev. He loved spending time with his family, fishing, boating, swimming and having parties. He had a summer place on an island at TMI for 30 years. He was the most gentle soul ever. He will be missed by all who knew him.
