Charlotte Ruth Babco, 88, of Punxsutawney, died on Saturday, Dec. 3, 2016, at home. She was born on Nov. 6, 1928, in Gypsy, the daughter of the late Luella (Guthrie) and Joseph Williams.On Sept. 13, 1947, she married Michael J. Babco, who preceded her in death on Aug. 11, 2005.Ruth was a member of the Saints Cosmas and Damian Roman Catholic Church in Punxsutawney.She was an extraordinary homemaker who worked as a secretary for her husband in their insurance business.Ruth was an avid reader. She enjoyed walking, canning, flower gardening, traveling with her husband across the U.S. to insurance conventions, visiting family in Texas and volunteering in her community. Her children and grandchildren were her joy. She also enjoyed cooking and baking for her family.Surviving relatives include five children, Theresa Green of Austin, Texas, Nancy Gorton and husband Mickey of Austin, Texas, Jeff "Chowder" Babco of Punxsutawney, Scott Babco and wife Tricia of Punxsutawney and Jill Adamson and husband Jim of Marion Center; six grandchildren, Drew Buchanan and husband Rob, Michael Gorton and wife Maggie, Jason Juliette, Eric Adamson and Chelsea and Parker Babco; four great-grandchildren, Carson, Clayton and Grace Buchanan and Makenna Gorton; and several nieces and nephews.In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Bill Green; and two brothers, Herbie Williams and Chuck Williams.A Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2016, at Saints Cosmas and Damian Roman Catholic Church in Punxsutawney, with Monsignor Joseph Riccardo officiating.Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Punxsutawney.Online condolences may be made at www.deeleyfuneralhome.com.
