KENOSHA - Cheryl Ann Schmidtke, 67, passed away Saturday, May 21, 2011, at Kindred Hospital in Greenfield. She was born on October 16, 1943, to the late Gilbert and Gertrude (nee: Fitzgibbons) Berthelsen in Racine. On March 20, 2004, she married Helmut Schmidtke at Faith Community Church in Racine. She was educated at the Wisconsin School for the Deaf in Delavan. She was Secretary of the Class of 1964. Cheryl worked at Timberline Supply in Lake Bluff, Ill. for many years. She was a member of Faith Community Church in Racine and was a member of the Racine Keno Deaf Club. Cheryl enjoyed decorating, crafts, movies, traveling, going out with her husband, collecting Precious Moments figurines, and keeping up with technology. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. Cheryl is survived by her husband, Helmut; her children, Vickie A. (Scott) Bierman of Winthrop Harbor, Ill., William T. (Angie) Demo of Lindenhurst, Ill., and Dawn L. Demo of Zion, Ill.; her brothers, Gilbert (Santa) Berthelsen of Racine and Richard (Sandy) Berthelsen of Clifton, Va.; and her grandchildren, Chad, Carlie, Maddie, Katie, and Malorie. Her brother, Keith, also precedes her in death. Visitation for Cheryl will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2011, from 5 until 8 p.m. at the Bruch Funeral Home.
