Chesterlyn "Chet" GregoryNewbury Park, CAChesterlyn "Chet" Gregory died peacefully on Monday, January 16, 2017, at her daughter's home in Newbury Park.Chet was born on July 16, 1925 in Santa Margarita, California to Chester and Anita Kilbern. Her parents both passed early in her life and she was raised by her Nana and Papa Moraga. Chesterlyn moved to Los Angeles in the late 1940's and began working. While employed at Griffith Company, she fell in love and married Whitney Gregory. Whitney and Chesterlyn settled in Studio City, and had 1 daughter, Victoria. Possessing a true servant's heart her whole life, Chet faithfully cared for her family and friends through delicious cooking from scratch. In the late 60's she became a volunteer with the St. Joseph Hospital Guild in Burbank, along with being active at her daughter's school, St. Charles Borromeo in North Hollywood. Her other great enjoyment was golf. Whitney and Chet belonged to Braemar Country Club in Tarzana, and golfed together with friends for over 20 years. A couple of years after their daughter Victoria married Robert Krock, Whitney and Chet moved from the San Fernando Valley to Calabasas so that they could be closer to their daughter, son-in-law, and two grandsons, Wesley and Stuart. After her husband's passing, Chesterlyn's zest for life, especially with her grandsons, never lost its beat. With her constant nurturing love and faith, she began volunteering at Los Robles Medical Center every Wednesday, and offering her heart and help at St. Jude's Catholic Church. Her enjoyment of golf continued and she would play weekly at Westlake, Los Robles and Camarillo Springs Golf courses. Her signature gift of joy, shown through her contagious smile, laughter, and an entertaining sense of humor will never be forgotten. Known for her ease in frequent conversation, even with total strangers, she no doubt touched many lives. She will be missed by her daughter, Victoria, son-in-law Robert, grandsons Wesley and Stuart of Newbury Park, her sister Etta Lydic and niece, Anita (Mike) Hendry of Paso Robles, California, sister-in-law Sister Mary Brigid Gregory of St. Catherine, Kentucky and extended family and friends. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on January 28 at 2:00 at St. Jude's Church in Westlake Village. A reception will follow in the Parish Hall.
