Chia-Yun ChenAGE: 91 • HockessinChia-Yun Chen passed away on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at the age of 91 after suffering a stroke. Chia-Yun was born on February 17, 1926 in Ju-Jih county, Zhejian province, China. She graduated from Chun-Hwei Business College in Nanking. Chia-Yun was a warm and enthusiastic woman who enjoyed family, friends, and traveling. With her first husband, Yin-Yu Chen, she moved to Taiwan to escape the Chinese civil war. After her first husband's passing, Chia-Yun single-handedly raised their four children, supported them to complete their college educations in Taiwan, and then their post-graduate educations in the United States. During those years, she worked as a manager of a restaurant and then as an accountant for the government office in Taiwan. She immigrated to the US to join her children in 1987. She enjoyed spending time with her children and helping take care of her grandchildren. Chia-Yun met Tsu-Huai (Louis) Wang in Wilmington, DE and they fell in love and got married in 1997. They enjoyed each other's companionship and traveled across the world. Chia-Yun was preceded in death by her first husband, Yin-Yu Chen, and second husband, Tsu-Huai Wang, Her legacy will live on through her son, John (and wife Wei Wei) of Hockessin, DE; daughters, Joan of Cockeysville, MD, Shiao-Yun Huang of Saratoga, CA, Agatha (and husband Steve Kuo) of Plano, TX; grandchildren, Alan Chen, Amy Chen, Cheryl Yau, Nicole Szabo, Nathan Huang, Vincent Huang, Raymond Huang, Kane Kuo, and Cary Kuo, and great grandson,Wesley Yau.A memorial service will be held at Wilmington Community Evangelical Church, 1512 Brackenville Road, Hockessin, DE 19707 on Friday, July 21 at 11:00AM.
