Chris Uttich-GengeClovis, CAAderienne Christine Uttich-Genge, age 70, passed away at her home in Clovis on September 27th. Chris was born on July 31, 1947 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Merlin Normand and Annie Mae (Riche) Normand. Chris attended grade school in Shreveport before moving to Hayward at the age of 9 where she then graduated from Mt. Eden High School in 1965. While raising her family, she went to night school to pursue a nursing services career. Over the next 30 plus years she showed her compassion for people by working at the Home of Guiding Hands in San Diego and then Vista del Mar psychiatric hospital in Ventura. She also volunteered with the Lou Gehrig foundation and Make-a-Wish foundation. Chris truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; like morning coffee, chatting with friends and family, spending time with her grandchildren and wine tasting in Cambria with her husband. Her hobbies included arts and crafts, sewing, coloring, painting, reading and traveling. She also enjoyed learning about her French ancestry and southern roots. One of her fondest experiences was living in the Philippines. Chris had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way, and will be missed by all. She is survived by her loving husband of 19 years, Chris; sons, Rick and Brandon; grandchildren Aidan and Ethan; and sisters Susan and Ginger. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, November 3rd, 2017 from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm at The Derby Club, 10 W. Harbor Blvd., Ventura, CA.
