LAKEVIEW – Christian P. "Chris" Morris, Sr., 86, of Orchard Island, Lakeview, Ohio, passed away early Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2016 at his home.
Chris was born on Nov. 3, 1930 in Lima, Ohio, to the late Christian and Helen Stolzenbach Morris. On Sept. 6, 1952, he married the former Lillian "Lil" Foehrenbach in Woodsfield, Ohio, and she preceded him in death on June 16, 2008. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Jefferson Morris.
He is survived by one Daughter: Deb (Brandon) Hines, Sarasota, Fla.; three sons: Christian P. (Tina) Morris, Gallipolis, Ohio, Mark E. (Christine) Morris, Alexandria, Ky., David R (Kristi) Morris, Galloway, Ohio; 14 grandchildren: Amanda, Libby, Katie, Jennifer, Daniel, Mallory, Audrey, Josiah, Paige, Erik, Luke, Andie, Tabitha, and Jared, 16 great-grandchildren, and two sisters-in-law, Mary Magers, Tucson, Ariz., and Blanche Whitlock, Walnut Creek, Calif.
Chris was a 1948 graduate of Lima Central High School, and earned his B.S. in Government from Auburn University in Alabama. He is a veteran of the United States Navy, serving during the Korean Conflict. Chris was a retired city manager and former Mayor for the City of Lima. He was a member of Indian Lake Community Church and Galilee Lutheran Church, both in Russells Point. He was a life member of the International City/County Managers Association and Ohio City/County Managers Association. Chris was also a member of the Elks and American Legion. He served on the Mental Health, Drug and Alcohol Service Board, and volunteered for United Christian Services of Indian Lake Food Pantry. Chris is also a Past President of the Ohio Mayors Association and Ohio Municipal League. With all his involvement in serving his community throughout the years, his greatest love was his wife, Lil, and his family.
Reverends Jim Ellington and Karen Blackburn will begin a memorial service at 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 19, 2016, at Indian Lake Community Church, 120 N. Orchard Island Road, Russells Point, Ohio, with visitation one hour prior to services.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the United Christian Services of Indian Lake Food Pantry or Mental Health, Drug and Alcohol Service Board.
