Christiane Hella Knorr, 83Christiane Hella Knorr, 83, of Iowa City, passed away Thursday, August 31, 2017 at The Bird House, the Hospice Home of Johnson County. A Memorial Service will be held at Old Brick in Iowa City on Saturday, September 23th, 2017 at 2 pm. Christiane was born on January 11, 1934 in Berlin, Germany and was the daughter of George and Hella (Roeder) Bliersbach. She graduated in 1955 with a degree in Physical Therapy. Christiane was united in marriage to George Knorr on May 28, 1960 in Munich, Germany. In 1967 they immigrated as a young family to the United States and eventually settled in Iowa City, IA.Christiane's artistic sensibilities came into fruition in the mid 1970's when she became a dedicated ceramicist. As a member of the IC art community she was instrumental in establishing the Iowa Artisan Gallery in 1980.Christiane was a vibrant member in the community of Iowa City and touched many people's lives with her compassion and love. She will be dearly missed.Christiane is survived by her husband, George; three sons, Stefan Knorr of Seattle, WA, Ulrich Knorr (Carol Aarts) of Salt Lake City, UT, and Christof Knorr (Sarah Bond) of Portland, OR; and five grandchildren, Oriah, Poppy, Ella, Josephine, and Beatrice.
