Christopher Haines 1945-2016Christopher Lee (Kit) Haines, 71, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at Silverado Memory Care Center in Sugar Land, Texas. He was born on July 11, 1945 in New York City, New York to Henry H. and Dora Lee Fooshee Haines. Much loved, Kit is survived by his spouse Page; his children Cal (Christopher Calhoun) Haines and Lee Calhoun Charalambous; his sister Pam (Haines) Herrera of Atlanta, Georgia; his grandchildren Lukas James Charalambous and Lillian Raizel Charalambous; and nieces and nephews and other relatives.Kit grew up in Montclair, New Jersey and Houston, Texas and graduated from Bellaire High School here in Houston (Bellaire), Texas in 1963. After high school, he attended Houston Baptist University and then The
University of Texas where he received his MBA in Finance in 1969.He worked for Riviana Foods and loved his work there for some 35 years. He served as Vice President of Marketing for about 20 of those years.In 1970, Kit married Page Calhoun in Fort Stockton, Texas. They enjoyed 46+ years of a blessed marriage. Kit was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Houston, the Sugar Creek Country Club, and took a turn at heading Riviana's United Way drive among many other activities. He was an outstanding golfer. He enjoyed beach vacations, ski vacations, sports of all kinds, cheering on his Longhorns, loving his children and family, and living a full and fulfilled life.He was a man of integrity, honor and peace. He was a giver and supporter for friends, co-workers and those in need and had a gift of staying calm and quietly leading in the most tense situations.A celebration service will be held at First Presbyterian Church, 5300 Main Street, Houston 77005 at 2 p.m. on Thursday, November 3. The family will be greeting friends and relatives at the reception at the church after the service.
