SOUTHERN PINES — Christopher Ryan Carter, 27, formerly of Laurinburg passed away on May 23, 2016.

Those left to cherish his memory include his parents Sandy and Charles Carter of Laurinburg, brothers Clint and Bradley Carter of Laurinburg, maternal grandmother Joyce Hamby of Laurinburg, many aunts, uncles and cousins, and special friend Cassie Guzman. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Dorothy and Willie Carter and Grady Hamby.

Chris was born on Sept. 15, 1988 in Nash County. He grew up loving cars and fishing. He also loved weightlifting and fitness. He graduated in 2006 from Scotland High School and was enrolled at Sandhills Community College where he was pursing his passion in health and fitness. He was employed with Golds Gym in Southern Pines and the Sandhills Community College Fitness Center.

The family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday at Stewartsville Baptist Church followed by the funeral service at 3 p.m. Burial will be in Hillside Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Christopher's memory to Stewartsville Baptist Church, 10401 McColl Road, Laurinburg, NC 28352.
