Christopher Paul Slater, 33, formerly of Montrose, passed away unexpectedly on April 13, 2014 in Castle Hayne, N.C. He is survived by his loving wife and partner of over 16 years, Amy (Sheffler) Slater, Montrose. He was born on June 30, 1980 in Susquehanna, to the late Dale Slater and Cathy (Ball) Slater of Montrose. He is also survived by his daughter, Jasmine Secilia Slater; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Aaron and Jen Slater, Wilmington, N.C., Barrett Slater and Jessica Raub, Kingsley; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Lorrie and Phil O'Brien, Montrose; two sisters-in-law and spouse, Jody and Kurt Sherman, Springville, Teslee O'Brien, Montrose; two brothers-in-law, David O'Brien and Bradley O'Brien, Montrose; nieces and nephews, Kylie and Kira Slater, Dylan, Dominik and Alijah Slater and Carli and Leah Sherman; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was also predeceased by grandparents, Robert and Daisey Slater; grandmother, Carolyn Ball; niece, Pacie Ann Slater; and his wife's father, Charles Sheffler.Chris was a loving husband, an awesome father, son, brother and a friend to many. He loved the outdoors, had a great passion for hunting and loved being a kid at heart. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, riding his four wheeler, teaching his daughter archery and spending nights around a bonfire. He loved the outdoors and the northeast.Funeral services will be held on April 26, 2014, Saturday at 3 p.m. at the Standfordville Baptist Church, Lawsville. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. prior to the service.
