Downs, Cindy Lea Lovell,Cindy Lea Lovell Downs, 60 died peacefully on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 after a brave struggle with cancer. Cindy was born on June 26, 1956 in Louisville, KY to Donald and Francis Lovell both whom preceded in her death. She was married to Michael Downs, who also preceded her in death. She is survived by her loving brother Donald Lovell, Jr.Cindy was a longtime employee of the Public Defender's Office, where she held several key positions over the course of her 43 years of service. Her co-workers admired her tremendous work ethic, respected her skill and intellect, and valued her loyalty and dynamic leadership ability. The terms "one of a kind" and "salt of the earth" seem to have been coined to best describe Cindy.She was also a proud veteran of the US Army Reserves. Cindy was beloved by all who knew her for her big heart, caring nature and generous spirit. She will be dearly missed by her colleagues and many friends. A celebration of Cindy's well-lived, hardworking, fun-loving life will be held at a later date. Cremation was chosen.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hosparus of Louisville.
