Mother, Clara Magee Graves was born on December 22, 1949 to the late Wiley Magee Jr. She was called home to be with the Lord On October 1, 2024 at the age of 74.
She graduated from Washington Parish High School. Mother Graves worked as a substitute teacher for the Washington Parish School System for many years, she later worked for Regina Coeli Child Development Center. Her hobbies were reading books and playing crossword puzzles.
Mother Clara accepted Christ at a very young age under the leadership of the late Superintendent Leonard Hills at the Lears Hill COGIC. Her final church home was St. John Temple COGIC , under the leadership Superintendent Esco E. Burton I. She was a faithful member until er health began to fail. She married the late Larry Graves on June 26, 1971. To this union two daughters and two sons were born.
Mother Clara leaves to cherish her memories her mother: Corrine Warren Magee; two daughters: Katina (Bartholomew) Ginn, and Kezelle (Shonoski) Wilson; sons: VInce(Joyce) Kemp, Stanley Kemp; bonus daughter: Keonsha (Reginald) Searight; eighteen grandchildren: Kensha Magee, Kabartus Ginn (Tale’drianna), Kazarion Warren (Darreon), Kazaiah Warren, Kaylyn Ginn, Kazyron Warren (Briana), Sequoia(Demetrius) Kemp, Tequilla Kemp, Kenisha Kemp, Yeinna(Alton) Whipple Vince Kemp Jr., Armontee Kemp, Tamika Magee, Ibiante Magee, Barrica Causey, Demartez Harry, Ramona Magee, and Kennedi Searight. She was also blessed with four bonus grandchildren: Tamaya, Tamira, Tyron Wilson, and Shamia Marks; two bonus great grandchildren: Trayce Robinson, and Kylon Cotton Jr.; eight sisters: Elexine (Herman) Tatum, Janice Magee, Bernadette Magee, Michelle (Bishop Kelvin) Bolden, Unzelle (John) Magee, Connie (Terrence) Steib, Patricia (Richard) Williams, and Gladys (Lehmann) Skinner; two brothers: Bryan Magee and Coleman Fowler; three god-daughters: Louise Wilson, Camille Davis, and Hacienda Johnson; a devoted cousin/friend, Linda Harvey and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren and other loved ones and friends.
Mother Clara was loved by many. She always had open doors and arms; never meeting a stranger.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Larry Graves; father: Wiley Magee, Jr.; grandparents; and five brothers: Archie Magee, Terry Magee, Micheal Magee, Wiley Magee, and Dennis Magee.
A drive through will be on Friday, October 11, 2024 from 3:00PM – 6:00PM at Crain and Sons Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at 2:00PM at New Jerusalem Baptist Church with Superintendent Esco E. Burton I – Pastor Officiating. Interment – Lear Hill Cemetery.
