EVANS, Ga. - Clara Smith Brown, 92, wife of the late Glenn Monroe Brown, died Monday, October 17, 2016 in Anderson, SC. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, October 21, 2016 at Platt's Funeral Home Belair Road Chapel with Rev. Les Roberts of Atlanta, officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Mrs. Brown was born on Nov. 6, 1923 in Atlanta, GA. Her parents were Joseph Daniel Smith and Sarah Howell Smith. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Augusta, where she was a member of the Golden Circle Sunday School class, and attended Damascus Baptist Church at Clarks Hill. Through the years, she worked at Pepsi Cola Bottling Company, Southern Milling Company, and as a teacher's aide. Later, she enjoyed working alongside her sons as a bookkeeper at Brown Feed and Seed in Evans, GA. She enjoyed many wonderful trips with the 39er Club out of Augusta, but the happiest times of her life were spent with her family at her lake house at Clark Hill. Survivors include her daughter, Glenda Brown Costa (Mike), her sons, Don Brown (Kinya), Glenn "Larry" Brown (Lynn), Les Brown (Ollivia) all of Appling, GA and David Brown (Becky) of Atlanta, GA, sisters, Clyde Smith Walthour of Dallas, GA., Maxine Smith Sims (Paul) of Augusta, GA, and Beverly Smith Troutman, of Atlanta, GA, thirteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her brothers, Bill Smith and Dan Smith both of Augusta, GA, and her sisters, Mildred Bell of Augusta, GA, and Barbara Bond of Macon, GA.
