Battelene, Clara Ines (Muoio) Devoted Wife and loving Mother, Grandma, Nana and Nana Grande About Clara: A smart and hardworking woman, as a mother and as a career woman, who loved to travel. Mrs. Clara I. Battelene of Scottsdale, AZ, passed away on Sunday, May 21st at the age of 90. Clara was born on June 26, 1926, in Utica, NY to parents Attilio and Desdemona Muoio. Clara was the 3rd of 4 daughters and attended Proctor High. Clara married Harold Battelene in 1950, and they celebrated 66 years of marriage last September, before he passed. As a devoted wife and loving mother, their family grew to six and they moved to Arizona in 1968. With Clara's sense of adventure, she followed Harold and his career successes, from Utica to Phoenix, then to Boston, and back to Scottsdale. In Scottsdale, Clara worked as Accounting Manager for Club Med for 12 years which allowed her and Harold to travel the world and have many great adventures. It was the "job of her Life". They retired in Prescott Valley, and then spent the last 8 years back in Scottsdale, close to their youngest child Donna. Clara was the kind of wife and mother who was always there. She "ran" the home, raised the kids and did it beautifully and seemingly effortlessly. Clara is survived by their sons Russell and David, daughters Susan and Donna, 10 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by Harold, her parents and her 3 sisters, Lisa, Elvira and Gloria.
