God in his infinite wisdom called our dear Clarence Junis Thomas Sr. home on July 10, 2017.Clarence loved cars and was an avid music, baseball, and Philadelphia Eagles fan. He had an infectious smile and never met a stranger.Clarence was born on November 25, 1956, to the late Blossie Bonner and William A. Thomas. He was baptized at Rocky Branch Baptist Church of Sutherland, Va. He received his formal education from Dinwiddie Public Schools.He was employed at Dinwiddie Parks and Recreation and Central State Hospital until his untimely death.He is preceded in death by his parents, Blossie Bonner and William A. Thomas; sister, Barbara Lundy Thomas; brother, James Thomas; son, Torrey Taylor; and nephew, William A. Thomas III.He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Deborah Gurley-Thomas; his children to include four daughters and four sons, Trimika Uzzle, Ashley Crittendon, Clarence Jr., Terrence Crittendon, Damond Gurley (Kalota), Rhonda Gurley, Tammy Bryant (Joshua), and Derrick Gurley; seven grandchildren, Trevon and Sejuan, Ta'Breia, Ryan, Jordan, Autumn, and Isaiah; seven sisters, Rosa Taylor (Claude), Alice Cooper (Roosevelt), Blossie Moore Robinson, Queen Batts (Leon), Beatrice Tuomb, and Linda Thomas; a sister-in-law, Arkeya Goode; a brother-in-law, Bernard Gurley; one uncle, Alston Jones; and four aunts, Betty Spratley, Sarah Fields, Rose Gee, and Alice T. Johnson; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, devoted friends, Rayfield Vines Jr. and L.F. Harrison.Funeral services will be conducted at 12 noon Tuesday, July 18, 2017, at Good Shepherd Baptist Church, 2223 S. Crater Road, Petersburg.
