We are gathered here today to pay tribute to the one and only Clarenda Smith, who graced this earth with her presence on August 2, 1982, and left us far too soon on January 9, 2026, in Conover, North Carolina.
Clarenda, also known as Clarice to her loved ones, was a devoted mother to her four children, Alicia Igartua, Asakia Wilson, Aniya Smith, and Kae’Shawn Smith. She always wanted put her family first despite her many struggles even if it meant talking junk to get her point across. She was a master at setting her kids straight with a side of humor.
Despite her tough exterior, Clarenda had a soft spot for music and could often be found belting out her favorite tunes at the top of her lungs. She also had a knack for talking junk, a skill that she honed to perfection over the years.
Clarenda was a graduate of Asheville High School, class of 2001, where she continued to perfect her craft of talking junk. She never missed an opportunity to let someone know exactly what was on her mind.
Unfortunately, Clarenda's journey on this earth came to an abrupt end due to the tragedy of suicide. It is a sobering reminder that even the strongest among us can struggle with inner demons.
Let us remember Clarenda for her quick wit, her infectious laugh, and her unwavering love for her family. She may have left us too soon, but her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
You can to the family or in memory of Clarenda Smith .
