Claretha was born and raised in North Carolina and was educated in Bertie County school system. She later relocated to Virginia. Claretha married and had 5 children. She was a hard working women, it was nothing for her to entertain family and friends by having cookouts while enjoying her favorite music and feeding all those children in the neighborhood in which they looked forward too. Claretha is preceded in death by her siblings William S. Stanley, Johnetta Wilson, Christiana Watford, Georgie Mae Boone, Catherine Stanley, and Carrie Jean Dorsey. 

She leaves to cherish her memories 5 children; Theresa Griffin, Tyrell Jones, Richie Moore, Annette Robinson, and Helen Freeman. 3 sibllings; Pauline Moore, Shirley White and Ruth Short. 9 grandchildren; Mya Jones, Dana Moore, Mareo Freeman, Jarrell Moore, RaShaun Freeman, Brian Taylor, Charity Moore, Na'Helia Moore, James (Kobe) Robinson, 13 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and caring friends.
