NEW PORT RICHEY, FL - Claribel Howard Olsen, age 98, passed away at her residence in New Port Richey, FL on March 24, 2016. Claribel was born on September 19, 1917 in Washburn, WI to Fred and Mabel (nee Geddes) Howard. On October 22, 1949, she was united in marriage to Scott Olsen in Racine. He preceded her in death on June 4, 2001. She taught grades K-8 in a rural one room school house for 11 years prior to her marriage. During World War II, Claribel worked at Webster Electric. She worked as a Teacher’s Aide in the Racine Unified School District for 14 years, retiring in 1988. Claribel was a longtime, faithful member of Calvary Memorial Church serving as a Sunday School teacher and superintendent. She was a volunteer with Child Evangelism and Fellowship. Claribel loved gardening, crafts, and investing in others. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Thomas Howard (Ailan) Olsen and Carol (Chris) Hazle; grandchildren: Laurel (Jeremy) Thomas, Joshua (Heather) Hazle, Ashlee (Chris) Yarter, Erik Olsen and Megan Olsen; and great-grandchildren: Kylie White, Keira White, Kaitlyn White, Zoey Yarter, and Joshua Hazle, Jr. Claribel was preceded in death by her husband, Scott, her step-mother, Catherine Skewes, and three sisters: Lois (Robert) Pence, Grace (Albert) Palmiter, and Beryl (Ted) Semons. A visitation for Claribel will be held on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home. There will also be a time of visitation on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at Calvary Memorial Church from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m. Claribel’s funeral service will be on March 31, 2016 at Calvary Memorial Church beginning at 1:00 p.m. Pastor Nathan James will officiate.
