Clement Chambers Cary A gentle soul died October 22, 2016. Clement L. Chambers was born on November 29, 1910. His parents were Charles and Rosa Isabella Chambers. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby, his brothers, Ralph and Walter and sisters, Ruth and Irene. Clement graduated from Reynolds High School and enrolled in NC State College in 1929. He went to work in the Student Book Store to pay for his education and retired as manager for that book store in 1965. While at NC State he joined the Reserve Officers Training Corps. During WW2, he fought with the 24th Infantry Division in the Pacific theater and later with the 10th Armored Infantry Division in the Atlantic theater He returned to the USA on the Queen Elizabeth at the end of the war. He retired form the army reserve as a major. After retirement, he and his wife traveled the world but his heart was never far from NCSU. He is survived by his step-daughter, LaVoyce Harrell and her husband Bernard. His grandchildren are Brandon Harrell and his wife Nancy, Emily Deese and her husband Joe and Lee Harrell. His great grandchildren are Katie Harrell, Jennifer Harrell, Sam Harrell and Frances Deese. He is also survived by his nephews Charles Chambers and Walter Chambers and their families. A private internment will be held at the Edenton Street United Methodist Columbarium.
