Cleo LaVerne Hansen Tomco, 92, longtime Anchorage, Alaska, resident passed away on Nov. 24, 2016, in Palmer, Alaska. Cleo was born on April 6, 1924, to Esther and Martin Hansen in Coulee City, Wash. She and her husband, Edward Tomco, moved their growing family to Anchorage in 1952. Over the years, Cleo has been a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, as well as daughter, sister and aunt. She loved travel, music, playing pinochle with family and friends, reading, discussing politics and shopping. She especially enjoyed the many friendships that graced her life. Cleo is survived by sisters, Jean Nelson of Omak, Wash., and Dorothy Robinson of Salem, Ore.; children, Joan (Bruce) Haroldson of Goodyear, Ariz., Ed (Lee) Tomco of Lake Havasu, Ariz., Mike (Lee) Tomco of Mesa, Ariz., Jim (Cheryl) Tomco of Wenatchee, Wash., Pete (Wendy) Tomco of Palmer and Gretchen (Jay) Anthony of Gold Beach, Ore.; as well as her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward, in 2002; her parents; and brothers, Dale and Donald. An informal celebration of Cleo Tomco's life will be held at 2 p.m., on Dec. 10, 2016, at Primrose Retirement Community of Wasilla, Alaska. She will be greatly missed by all those whose lives she touched.
