Clifford Henry Morgan, 97, of Spencer, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 27, 2016. He was born on April 29, 1919 to the late Henry and Nannie Cauble Morgan in Rowan County. Clifford was a 1938 graduate of Rockwell High School. Clifford worked as a control operator for Duke Power for over 33 years before retiring. He enjoyed collecting antiques, antique cars. and traveling. Clifford was a life long member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, a past council member and usher. He was a member of Keller Memorial Masonic Lodge #657, Oasis Shriners, Rowan Shrine Club, Scottish Rite, Past Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star Spencer Chapter # 31, and past 17th District Deputy of the Order of the Eastern Star. Following graduation, Clifford entered the United States Air Force on Aug. 4, 1941; he flew over 50 missions in the European Theartre as an Aerial Gunner in the 47th Bombardment. He was awarded the Purple Heart and the Air Force Air Medal. In addition to his parents, Clifford is preceded in death by brothers, Chester, Hubert and Harley Morgan; and sisters, Gaither Kluttz, Trula Morgan and Clara Trexler. Clifford is survived by his brother, Earl Raymond Ted Morgan of Lexington; fiancée, Naomi E. Headinger of Spencer; many nieces and nephews; and his beloved chihuahua, Lil Rascal. Visitation: Visitation will be held Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2016 from 12:30 - 1:30 p.m. at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Salisbury. Service: Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2016 at the St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Salisbury, with Rev. Sean Barrett, officiating. Burial will follow in the Rowan Memorial Park.
