Braeger, Clifford K.Clifford K. Braeger, age 87, of Greenville, passed away at Kindred Hearts in Greenville on Thursday, December 15, 2016. Cliff was born on June 16, 1929, in Greenville, to the late Ray and Wilma (Schultz) Braeger. He was a 1947 graduate of Hortonville High School. Cliff married Jean Smith on May 25, 1951, in Appleton; she preceded him in death on August 16, 1998. Cliff proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956 as a Medical Corpsman. Cliff went on to have a successful 28-year career, at Miller Electric in Appleton, as a self-taught Industrial Engineer. Cliff was a lifetime member of the Waverly Masonic Lodge #51 and Hammond-Schmit American Legion Post #55 of Hortonville. He enjoyed the give and take of many years as a youth and amateur baseball umpire; was an avid card player, especially tough to beat in Skat; and an early renaissance man - as he was classically trained in voice, an accomplished cook and welder, and the patriarch responsible for introducing the next generation to the joys of hunting and fishing. Survivors include his sister Joan (Jerry) Zaug; his niece, Cheryl Zaug (Brian) Casey; his nephew, Warren Zaug (Trisha Araujo); his great nephew, Alexander Zaug; his great niece, Samantha Zaug; and his beloved cousin, Pamela Schultz. Cliff was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Jean; and his sister, Jane. A memorial service for Cliff will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, December 19, 2016, at the WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME, 537 N. Superior Street, Appleton, with Rev. Leon Knitt officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday beginning at 3:30 p.m.. Private interment will be in Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church Cemetery.
