Clifford Russell SavageJuly 22, 1943May 29, 2017Clifford Russell Savage, 73, passed away on May 29, 2017. He was born on July 22, 1943 in Modesto, CA to Iris Hazel Moody and Thomas Verner Savage. Cliff graduated from Modesto High School in 1961, lettering in football, wrestling and track. He was a member of the record setting 880 relay team. He attended L.A. Pacific and Azusa Pacific College for 3 years. He was the leading rusher on their football team. He also ran track.Cliff enlisted in the Air Force for 2 years as a computer guidance system specialist. During the Pueblo Incident, he was flown to Alaska to repair 3 disabled jets, earning him Airman of the Month. After being honorably discharged, he returned to Reno to be closer to family.Cliff was married to Denise Kay Becker for 43 years. He retired from the Washoe County Animal Control after 26 years of employment. Cliff was a charter member of the Sparks Elks. His hobbies were hunting, fishing, camping and growing flowers. His passion was bowling.He is survived by his wife Denise, his brother Tom, nephew Stephen, and uncle Malcolm.A viewing will be held on Sunday, June 4th from 1:00 - 3:00 pm at Walton Funeral Home, 875 W. 2nd Street in Reno. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 5th at 10:00 am at the mortuary. Interment with military honors will follow at Mt. View Cemetery. Reception immediately following at The Olive Garden on Kietzke Ln.
