Clifton Earl Mattocks was born on July 14th, 1941 in Kingston, North Carolina and passed away on Wednesday, February 28th in Park Ridge, Illinois. He graduated from Adkin High School in Kingston in 1959 and always spoke proudly of his Carolina roots.
Clifton is survived by his wife of 17 years, Teresita Mattocks of Waukegan, Illinois; and only daughter, Rona Anais Mattocks of Denton, TX. Clifton is also survived by his former spouse and the mother of his daughter, Sandra Mattocks of Austin, TX.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of 22 years and retired as an E-7. For 15 years, Clifton lived and worked in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia as a training instructor in Electronics for the Royal Saudi Navy Forces Technical Institute.
An avid lover of travel, Clifton wore out several passports in his lifetime and was an avid collector of souvenirs from abroad. Also, Clifton loved living in Chicagoland as he was a die-hard Cubs fan. He had many passions in life such as music, seafood, wine, and art. One of the highlights of his incredible life was traveling to the Vatican and receiving the Pope’s annual blessing in St. Peter’s Square in the 80’s.
