Clifton “Tippy” William Jenkins, 84, of Sperryville, went to his Heavenly home Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at Novant Health Systems UVA Culpeper Hospital. He was born October 11, 1939 in Rappahannock County, VA to the late George and Bessie Jenkins.
Tippy retired as a Chief Forest Warden from the VA Dept of Forestry after 22 years of service in Rappahannock and Madison counties. He enjoyed spending time in nature, doing yardwork, riding dirt roads, and bird watching. Tippy attended Flint Hill Pentecostal Church and loved gospel music, reading his Bible and talking and spending time with his family and friends.
Tippy is survived by his wife of 66 years, Dorothy Atkins Jenkins; one son, Clifton W. Jenkins, Jr. (Dawn); one daughter, Beverly Kay Hornshell (Ricky); grandson, Richie Diehl (Renee), who he raised and considered a son; grandchildren, Adrienne Wigington, Thomas Jenkins, and Christopher Hornshell; three great grandchildren, Richard Diehl, Klaire Jenkins, and Ember Jenkins; and two aunts, Holly Dodson and Lucille Releford.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by three brother, Raymond, Charley, and James; and two sisters, Mary Wines and Bessie Jenkins.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 19, 2024 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper with Rev. Bobby Jenkins and Pastor “Scratch” David Clanagan officiating. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service.
Interment will follow at Sperryville Cemetery. Pallbearers serving the family will be Clifton Jenkins, Jr., Thomas Jenkins, Richie Diehl, Richy Hornshell, Christopher Hornshell, and Frankie Jenkins.
