AYDEN - Clinton Andrew "Bud" Cannon, 81, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012, at Vidant Medical Center. Clinton "Bud" was born on Jan. 13, 1931 in Pitt Co., N.C., to Robert and Callie Cannon. He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers; Robert Bruce, Jamie Ray and Dalton Lee Cannon; two sisters, Melba C. White and Lila Mae Daugherty and one great-grandchild, Elizabeth Danielle Cannon. Mr. Cannon was a retired farmer and a member of Bethany FWB Church, where he served as a deacon for many years. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening and was an avid NASCAR fan. Memorial donations in Mr. Cannon's honor may be made to Bethany FWB Church, 4256 N.C. 903 S, Winterville, NC 28590. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Frances Bryan Cannon, of the home; one son, Andrew B. Cannon, of Ayden; one daughter, Karla C. Alphin, of Ayden; four brothers, Donald Cannon and wife, Carol, Bobby Cannon and wife, Lois Ann, James Cannon and wife, Betty and Sam Cannon and wife, Loutina, all of Ayden; four sisters, Becky Sue Seymour and husband, Leonard, Edna Tolliver and husband, Jim, all of Kinston, Hazel Clayborne and husband, Eugene, of Morehead City and Faye Cline and husband, Larry, of Concord, N.C.; five grandchildren; Russell Cannon, Daniel Cannon and Phillip Cannon and wife, Nora, Amber Alphin and Bailey Alphin. The funeral service will be held on Sunday at 3 p.m. at Bethany FWB Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 2-3 p.m. at the church.
