Thornton, Sr., Clinton S.Clinton S. Thornton, Sr., 88, Village of Howard, died Sunday, August 6, 2017. He was born on May 4, 1929, in Green Bay to Lloyd and Elizabeth (Nooyen) Thornton.Clinton served in the U.S. Army from 1946 to 1950 in the Occupation Forces in Japan. He married Marjory Pettey on February 23, 1951, at St Joseph Catholic Church in Green Bay. She preceded him in death on August 28, 1970, after 19 years together.Clinton worked as a lab technician at James River Corporation, retiring in 1991, after 41 years of employment. He was a Union Steward for the AFL-CIO Local 213. He enjoyed his small hobby farm and gardening while raising his six children, and going to his cabin in Crivitz. He also enjoyed over 25 years with his significant other, Sandra Alicea and created many wonderful memories.Clinton is survived by his children and their spouses, Deborah Coppens, Judy and James Whiting, Karen and Charles Bookter, Clinton and Carol Thornton, Jr., Michael and Julie Thornton, Scott Thornton; 18 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter; two brothers, Patrick (Delores) Thornton, Frank (Joanne) Thornton; sister-in-law, Yvonne Thornton; and many nieces and nephews.In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters and three brothers, Delia Thornton, Lydia Gegere, George, James, Roland and John Thornton.Friends may call at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 2597 Glendale Ave., (one quarter mile east of the corner of Cardinal Lane and Glendale Ave.), from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. with Rev.
