CLURUS ARLENE BROWNJanuary 7, 1925 - February 20, 2017Salem - Clurus "Corky" (Hageman) Brown died February 20, 2017 in Mt. Angel, Oregon. She was 92.Clurus was born on January 7, 1925 in Platte Center, Nebraska to George Melvin and Louise Jane (Lohoff) Hageman. She had three brothers, Marvin, Clifford, and Alvin and one sister, Janis. The family moved from Nebraska to the Bethel area of Salem in June of 1936. Clurus attended Bethel Elementary, Parrish Jr. High, and Salem High School, graduating in June 1943.On October 25, 1947 Clurus married James Edward Brown. Together they had four children; Vicki Sue, Gary Allen, Donna Jean, and Larry Dean. Clurus and Jim divorced in 1962, but he held a special place in her heart.Clurus began working for the Marion County Clerk as a Court Clerk in 1960. She retired from what is now the Oregon Judicial System in 1992 after 32 years. Her final job title was Senior Court Supervisor.Clurus enjoyed bowling, needle crafts, sewing, and gardening. She was active in the East Salem Suburban Neighborhood Association for many years, serving as secretary, vice chairman, chairman, and director.Clurus is survived by her children Vicki (John) Larch, Gary (Debra), Donna (Chuck) Owens, and Larry (Leona); grandchildren Andrea (Colby) Rogers, Chad (Sarah) Owens, Greg Brown, and Nicholle (Kaleb Meeks) Brown; great-grandchildren Colby Padua, Caleb Owens, Hannah Owens, Eve Owens, and Syler Meeks. She is also survived by her brother Alvin Hageman, sister Janis Willett and many cousins, nieces and nephews.Clurus is predeceased by granddaughter Cassandra Owens, ex-husband James Brown, brothers Marvin Hageman and Clifford Hageman, and her parents.A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the Salem First Church of the Nazarene, 1550 Market Street NE Salem, Oregon.
