Pastor Clyde E. Johns November 29, 1942 - November 7, 2016 Warner Robins, GA- Warner Robins – Pastor Clyde E. Johns, 73, was called home to be with the Lord on Monday, November 7, 2016. Clyde was born on November 29, 1942 in Coffee County, Georgia, in his family's old wooden shack home. When he was five years old, the family moved to Wray, Georgia where Clyde grew up and later graduated from Irwin County High School in neighboring Ocilla. At 16, Clyde met Paula Day and two years later, they were married. Following high school, he attended Valdosta State University and he and Paula continued building a family. In 1966, Clyde's life changed forever, when under the ministry of Wayne and Jean Swanson at Eastside Holiness Church, he accepted Christ as his personal Lord and Savior. This was an event that forever marked his life and set him on his path to serving the Lord. He farmed in Irwin County until 1974 when he was called to the ministry. In 1977, Clyde pastored his first church, Gardi Church of God, in Wayne County, Georgia. Later, he and Paula and their four children relocated one last time to Warner Robins and pastored the Houston Road Church of God which later became International City Church of God, renamed The Rain Church in 2007. He was blessed to serve the same congregation for 37 years. In addition to his dedicated study of the word of God, and being with family, Clyde enjoyed reading, fishing, golf, traveling, and spending time in nature. His parents, Enoch and Thelma Vickers Johns, preceded him in death. His memory will forever be treasured by his childhood sweetheart and loving wife of 55 years, Paula Day Johns of Warner Robins; children, Timothy Paul Johns of Wray; Wendy Johns Simmons (Shelly M. Jr.) of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida; Kelli Johns Simons (Jim J.) of Kathleen; Clinton Dennis Johns (Sara Viteri) of Byron; grandchildren, Mitchell and Matthew Johns; Blake Selph; Olivia and Trey Simmons; Taylor, Zachary, and Benjamin Simons; Caleb and Kaitlyn Johns; as well as many friends and a congregation he loved. Visitation will be Wednesday, November 9, 2016, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services celebrating his life will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, November 10, 2016 in the Chapel of McCullough.
