Our beloved father, husband, and grandfather, Cody W. Lutz, passed away on Jan. 27, 2014. He was 85 years old. He was born on Feb 28, 1928, in Salt Lake City, the son of Sidney R. Lutz and Jennie Davis Lutz. He married Charlene Twitchell; they later divorced. He then married Mary Sue Sparks, and later divorced. He then married Myrnalyn Rassmussen on June 3, 1987, in Las Vegas. Cody was raised and educated in Garden City. He joined the military on April 9, 1946, and served World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He was on the U.S. Army Pistol team and won many awards, including a gold medal at the National Pistol Match. In addition, he was distinguished with the honor as a 26th Hundred Shooter; very few servicemen have won this award. He also enjoyed his world travels while competing in these matches. He retired after 26 years of service. He is survived by his wife Myrnalyn, and their daughter, Josielyn Lutz. He is also survived by his children Sidney (Ed) Purser, Al J (Jennifer) Lutz, Kaylynn (Dean) Smith, and Billie Jo (Miguel) Guerrero. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his grandson, Tosh Barnes. A gathering will be held for family and friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 1, 2014, at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 E. Center St. in Logan.
