Connie Yvette Rhodes Burnett, 51, passed away on Monday, February 16, 2015 at Medical Center of Plano in Plano, Texas. She was born on January 24, 1964, in Alexandria, Virginia to Irene Chiles and Luther Rhodes.Connie grew up traveling with a military family. She graduated summa cum laude from West Orange High School in Orange, Texas in 1983. She was receiving post-secondary education at Collin College and Texas Women's University in Denton, Texas, where she studied English and reading for middle-grade children. Connie was passionate about education and literacy for all children.Connie married David Burnett in 1990 in Dallas, Texas. They were married for 24 years.Connie is survived by her husband, David; her children, Elizabeth Skousen, Devin Burnett, and Jared Burnett; siblings, Angela Dowling, Shirley Rhodes, Ronald Rhodes, and Freddie Rhodes; parents, Irene and Luther; and grandchildren, Rebecca, Emily, and Lillian; as well as her nieces, nephews, and other relatives.The family will be greeting friends and relatives at the Legacy Chapel at 2401 Legacy Drive, Plano, Texas.In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations are made to Hope's Door online at http://www.hopesdoorinc.org/what_you_can_do/donate/ or mail to, 860 F Ave., Suite 100, Plano, TX 75074.
