Jun 01, 1945 - Jan 23, 2017
This obituary is administered by:
Connie Jean Ferguson was born on May 31, 1945. She went to live with Jesus on January 23, 2017. She was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Max and Geraldine Wilkins. She is survived by her husband, Gene Ferguson; four children, Brenda Brown, Shonna Bowman, Donna Scruggs, and Ricky Watkins; three step-children, Ernie, Kathy, Joy and their children, whom she loved like her own. Grandchildren; Stacy Roper, Brent Baldwin, Christina Baldwin, Michael Scruggs and Robert Scruggs; six great grandchildren, Joshua, Madison, Kaytie, Shyanne, Brandon and Bella; mother, Geraldine Wilkins; sister, Robyn Wilkins; nephews, Uriah, Travis, Tyler and John. As well as many cousins and friends that she loved dearly, especially Phyllis Chandler. She was preceded in death by her father, Max Wilkins, her brother, Robert Wilkins, son-in-law Michael Brown and son Tony Watkins. Her father was a Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Air Force, so she lived and experienced the countryside of Germany and spoke the language fluently. When they returned to the states, where they were stationed at the Pentagon in Washington, DC, she helped many German tourists interpret English so they could find their way around in America. She enjoyed singing and loved going to her Grandma Marberry's in the Ozarks where the whole family would sing and play instruments and just have a wonderful time. Connie was a resident of Porterville for 38 years. She was a Psychiatric Technician at PDC and worked at Sierra View District Hospital. Her nickname was Cookie because she was always making homemade treats for everyone at work. She treated everyone as if they were her family. Connie loved the Lord with all of her heart and her family and friends. She truly loved to do whatever she could to help anyone in need. She was a giver and throughout her life she helped countless families and people in need of food, clothing, and shelter, not to mention love. I'm sure everyone has a memory of something she did to make their life better. Connie loved her home and kept it spotless; she enjoyed cooking and having people over. She was an animal lover and had many pets. She was a friend to everyone; she welcomed everyone with open arms and gave the best hugs. Connie and her husband were married for 26 years. They both had children from previous marriages so they were one big blended family. They enjoyed many years on their ranch. They raised potbellied pigs. They had Benny roosters and chickens, pastured sheep and goats. They traveled to Oregon and the mountains and to the coast of California. As they grew older, they downsized and moved to a neighborhood in town. Her husband said, "Connie made him the happiest man on earth, she is the love of my life." She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Momma developed Lewy Body Dementia and each day for the past four years we lost a part of her. I'm sure the Lord knew that it would take that long for us to let her go. We would like to thank all of her caregivers and the folks at Evergreen in Visalia. You will never know the peace you gave us knowing how you loved and cared for her. She loved you all. "Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised." Proverbs 31:29-30A Service will be held on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at 6:00 PM at Myers Chapel. Following cremation at Myers Funeral Service & Crematory, interment will be private. Immediately following the service, there will be a potluck at Mission Bell Club House at 1343 W. Morton Avenue. To sign the family guest book or send condolences, go to
