BIG LONG LAKE — Connie Sue Helmer, 65, who resided on Big Long Lake, died Thursday, Dec. 3, 2015 at her residence while surrounded by her loving family. She was born on Sept. 25, 1950 in Garrett, Indiana, to Robert B. and Carrie R. (Schulthess) Kline. Connie never knew a stranger. She loved talking to everyone and she always had a smile for you. She graduated from East Noble High School in 1968. She loved her classmates from East Noble. They made a huge difference in her life. Connie had several jobs over the years. She was a dental assistant for A.B. and Craig Nelson, and a quality control inspector for LaGrange Assemblies. She also worked in the cafeteria at Lakeland High School and loved cleaning homes of friends. Her favorite job of all times was being a caregiver to her two grandchildren while they were growing up. Charlie and Carigan where two of her favorite loves of her life. She would either see or talk to them everyday. She leaves behind her husband of 45 years, Terry Helmer. They were married on July 25, 1970, in Kendallville, Indiana. He survives at Big Long Lake. Also surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Cori and Rob Yoder of LaGrange, two grandchildren, Charlie and Carigan Yoder of LaGrange; her two pets, Rocky and Casper, her miniature Schnauzers, who never left her side; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Jayne and Don Olsen of Colorado and Judy and Robert Bollinger of Kendallville; a brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Karla Kline of Kendallville; and numerous nieces and nephews. Her parents and a sister, Peggy Jo Kline, preceded Connie in death. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 7, 2015, at the Frurip-May Funeral Home, 309 W. Michigan St., LaGrange. Pastors Gary Sheets and Randy Marshall will officiate and burial will take place in Greenwood Cemetery, LaGrange. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, Dec. 6, from 2-6 p.m. Memorials may be contributed to the Ark Animal Rescue.
